Brutus started out in 1966, owned by two brothers Keith and Alan Freedman, and they quickly changed the face of British fashion. First the 1960's Mods and then the 1970's Skinheads and Suedeheads adopted the Brutus Trimfit Shirt as their own. In the 1970's Brutus set the jeans market alive with their Brutus Gold jeans, some having 28" bottoms! Their TV adverts by Saatchi & Saatchi were famous, some of the stills were shot by none other than David Bailey! Brutus Gold Jeans were at their peak in the 1970's and 1980's, worn by the rich and famous including Sting. Brutus sold millions of pairs of jeans during this time, until eventually fashion turned away from denim and more towards sportswear, so the brand was put on ice in 2000. The, in 2009, with the resurgence in British Subcultures and retro style, Keith's son Jonathan revived the brand and, with occasional collaborations with Dr Martens and the Northern Soul scene. 2016 is a special year for Brutus, being its 50th anniversary year. So now Brutus London has grown to once again include a full range of Trimfit Shirts, Brutus Gold Jeans, Nevapress trousers, Harrington style jackets and the old Ringer T Shirt
